Italian Christmas Cookies (filling)
Recipe Ingredients:
| 2 | cup | dried figs, hard tips discarded |
| 1 1/2 | cup | dried dates, pitted |
| 1 | cup | raisins |
| 3/4 | cup | whole almonds, toasted and coarsely chopped |
| 3/4 | cup | whole walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped |
| 1/2 | cup | orange marmalade |
| 1/2 | cup | honey |
| 1/4 | cup | brandy |
| 1 | tsp | orange zest, finely grated |
| 1 | tsp | lemon zest, finely grated |
| 1 | tsp | ground cinnamon |
| 1/2 | tsp | nutmeg, freshly grated |
| 1/4 | tsp | ground cloves |
Recipe Instructions:
| 1. | Combine figs, dates and raisins and process to finely chopped in a food processor. |
| 2. | Place mixture in medium bowl, add remaining filling ingredients and stir to combine. |
| 3. | Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours. (See Italian Christmas Cookies (dough) recipe) |
