Italian Meat Loaf
Recipe Ingredients:
| 1 | can | (8oz) tomato sauce |
| 1 | Tbsp | worcestershire sauce |
| 1 | Tbsp | firmly packed brown sugar |
| 1 1/4 | lbs | ground chuck |
| 1 | lbs | Italian sausage, casings removed |
| 2 | eggs, lightly beaten | |
| 2 | slices whole wheat bread, torn into small pieces | |
| 1/2 | tsp | salt |
| 1/4 | tsp | black pepper |
| 1/4 | cup | pine nuts |
| 2 | to 3 large fresh basil leaves, finely chopped |
Recipe Instructions:
| 1. | Preheat oven to 350F. In small bowl, combine tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Set aside half of mixture for sauce. |
| 2. | In large bowl, combine chuck, sausage, eggs, bread, salt, pepper, pine nuts, basil and remaining half of tomato sauce mixture. |
| 3. | Pack into 9.25 x 5.25-inch loaf pan; mound in center. Bake 1 hour or until internal temperature registers 140F. Let rest 15 minutes before slicing. Heat remaining sauce to serve with meat loaf. Yield: 8 servings |
